David's Big God

In college, the resident director of the dorms always talked about David's big view of God. From time to time, I've thought, "I want to know God like that--as really big." We see David's big view of God repeatedly in his life: when he faces Goliath and gives that awesome speech, when he refuses to kill Saul to get the kingship, when he steals his friend's wife and then kills him to cover it up---but still walks with God in the longhaul . . . to David, God was absolutely trustworthy, absolutely just, absolutely merciful . . . God was (and is) huge. And personal. I've been reading the Psalms lately with the mindset of looking over David's shoulder as he talks with God. Maybe, while listening to him talk to 'his' big God, the God I worship can grow a little bigger (or at least my perception of Him can).

  1. Yay Rob! Glad you started a blog! I had an anonymous one for awhile but then deleted it :D I really want to have one but can't think of what to write about... maybe in the Fall! Glad you are though! I'll look forward to it (and add you to the blogs I follow!)

  2. Welcome to the blogging world. It is weird to think that you were in our apartment in Slovenia while we were in the States. I heard from several people that you really had an impact while you were here. I am sorry we missed each other, but I look forward to the next time that our paths cross.
