Well, we're in the whirlwind of activity between camps . . . 3 down, 2 to go. Our summer started with going as staff on the Young Adult Rafting Camp. The water was huge. 3 days later, we left for 14 days of camp--a week of Training Camp with our summer staff, and a week of High School camp. We studied 1 Timothy and 1 John respectively, and God was so faithful in His Word to show us Himself. Next, we have our second High School camp and our Middle School camp. The air is hot, the water is big, and--most of all--God is ready to move!

Europe!

We've been excited to share all about our trip to Europe, but in the scramble to leave Slovenia on the last day, left our camera on Josh and Kristi Patty's couch! So, we got the camera back and can now share some pics! We spent time in Romania, Slovenia, and Croatia. We thoroughly enjoyed each stop on our trip, and loved connecting with so many wonderful ministers of the gospel. Here are some of our favorite pictures from the trip (to see the whole album, go to Rob's Facebook account).

What a Wonderful Weekend!!

Three great things happened this weekend: Rob's sister Jenny and her husband Mark came to see us!! The sun decided it was time to show it's beautiful face and we slept until 11:00 Saturday morning. What a glorious weekend! Jenny and Mark were wonderful guests. We had a great time reminiscing of the past and dreaming of the future. We were able to treat them to the best Mexican in Vancouver - El Tapatio and then spend an evening with Grandpa Aldrich. At 100 he still has a witty and delightful sense of humor. It was fun having the opportunity to finally show Jenny and Mark our home and introduce them to a few of our friends. It has been 5 years and this was the first time they were able to come visit. Praise the Lord for Heaven when we will all live in the same place!! Well, off to a new week!

David's Big God

In college, the resident director of the dorms always talked about David's big view of God. From time to time, I've thought, "I want to know God like that--as really big." We see David's big view of God repeatedly in his life: when he faces Goliath and gives that awesome speech, when he refuses to kill Saul to get the kingship, when he steals his friend's wife and then kills him to cover it up---but still walks with God in the longhaul . . . to David, God was absolutely trustworthy, absolutely just, absolutely merciful . . . God was (and is) huge. And personal. I've been reading the Psalms lately with the mindset of looking over David's shoulder as he talks with God. Maybe, while listening to him talk to 'his' big God, the God I worship can grow a little bigger (or at least my perception of Him can).

New!!

So, we're trying this blog thing out! I (Rob) am not so good at wanting to blog, but we'll try to keep you updated with our lives and musings. We just returned from a short mission trip to Eastern Europe where we visited a few countries, including Romania, Slovenia, and Croatia. I did some teaching in Slovenia and thoroughly enjoyed connecting with that team (which includes some missionaries from our church). We got to visit the beautiful Croatian coast and it was (thankfully) sunny and stunning. Ministry at Glenwood is especially fun right now--I just got two text messages today from guys that were pumped because their unsaved friends are coming to youth group this week. It is so fun to see our students motivated to see their friends come to Christ. Multiplication--it's slow starting, but crazy fun when it starts rolling! Craziest thought of late: God has existed in perfect relationship (in the Trinity) since forever started. In John 17, he invites believers into that relationship--into the Trinity. That's crazy!
