David's Big God

In college, the resident director of the dorms always talked about David's big view of God. From time to time, I've thought, "I want to know God like that--as really big." We see David's big view of God repeatedly in his life: when he faces Goliath and gives that awesome speech, when he refuses to kill Saul to get the kingship, when he steals his friend's wife and then kills him to cover it up---but still walks with God in the longhaul . . . to David, God was absolutely trustworthy, absolutely just, absolutely merciful . . . God was (and is) huge. And personal. I've been reading the Psalms lately with the mindset of looking over David's shoulder as he talks with God. Maybe, while listening to him talk to 'his' big God, the God I worship can grow a little bigger (or at least my perception of Him can).

New!!

So, we're trying this blog thing out! I (Rob) am not so good at wanting to blog, but we'll try to keep you updated with our lives and musings. We just returned from a short mission trip to Eastern Europe where we visited a few countries, including Romania, Slovenia, and Croatia. I did some teaching in Slovenia and thoroughly enjoyed connecting with that team (which includes some missionaries from our church). We got to visit the beautiful Croatian coast and it was (thankfully) sunny and stunning. Ministry at Glenwood is especially fun right now--I just got two text messages today from guys that were pumped because their unsaved friends are coming to youth group this week. It is so fun to see our students motivated to see their friends come to Christ. Multiplication--it's slow starting, but crazy fun when it starts rolling! Craziest thought of late: God has existed in perfect relationship (in the Trinity) since forever started. In John 17, he invites believers into that relationship--into the Trinity. That's crazy!
